Delicious Apple Crisp
This delicious apple crisp recipe is perfect for anytime, especially fall! This carmelized apple recipe is a family favorite! Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you’ll be going back for more!

We are lucky that we have apple trees on our property and we are able to save some each fall. This recipe is perfect when using fresh apples or even using our freezer apple pie filling recipe. One bag will work in a 9×13 pan.
For the apple filling, head on over to our apple pie filling recipe. If making fresh, use it right away. If you pull it from the freezer, let it thaw for a few hours.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the baking dish with butter.
Spread the apple filling in the greased pan.

Topping Ingredients for Delicious Apple Crisp
- Regular rolled oats
- Brown sugar
- All-purpose flour
- Ground nutmeg
- Butter – softened
- Optional: nuts
Combine oats, brown sugar, flour and nutmeg in a medium sized bowl. Cut in the butter until the mixture is coarse and crumbly. If using nuts, stir them in now. Spread the topping over the apple filling in the pan, trying to get it evenly spread.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 30 minutes or until tender and carmelized. Be careful not to burn the topping. If it seems the topping is getting brown but the apples need more time, cover with aluminum foil for part of the cooking time.
Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.

Any unused apple crisp can be stored on the counter top sealed tight. That is, IF you have any left! It doesn’t last too long at our house! You can even make it in advance and cover tightly and store in the freezer for a few months.
What type of apples do you prefer? There are so many possibilities!
