What is more frustrating that not being able to peel the eggs you recently boiled? Not much, in my opinion! I’ve tried many different methods and I have finally come up with Easy Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs!

Whether they were recently purchased eggs or freshly pulled out of the chicken coop, peeling hard boiled eggs can be challenging. It wasn’t until we got our own chickens that I realized how difficult it could be.

First, I set out to find all the ways to get that perfect peel. I continued to have problems. Then, I decided to combine some of the methods I found and, lo and behold, I found one that worked!

We use these easy peeling hard boiled eggs for deviled eggs or just to eat! They don’t last long around here!

Easy Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs

Follow these steps to make peeling hard boiled eggs easier!

  1. Bring a pan of water to boil. Make sure there is enough water to cover the eggs once they are placed in the pan.
  2. Once the water is boiling, add in your eggs.
  3. Boil for 11 minutes.
  4. Once 11 minutes are up, drain the water. Fill the pan with cold water and dump out 3 times.
  5. Next, fill the pan of eggs with water the 4th time and dump in 12 regular sized ice cubes into the water.
  6. Once all the ice cubes are melted and the eggs have cooled, begin peeling the eggs.

Tips for Easy Peeling

  • If you are using farm fresh eggs, I have found that trying to boil them the same day is rather difficult. I like to use at least day old eggs.
  • Roll the hard boiled egg around on a plate to crack it a few times before trying to peel it.
