How do you make BBQ Meatballs in the Oven?
First, I crushed crackers into a large bowl. To make it easier, I put them in a large ziploc bag and used a rolling pin to crush them. Then, I added in the half and half and beaten egg. Stir to combine.

Add in ground beef, onion, sea salt, pepper and chili powder. Mix well.

Once the meat is mixed well, make the meatballs. I prefer to use my hands to form the meatballs into 1.5-2 inch balls.

Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I used a cookie sheet here, however, you could also use a cake pan. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes until browned.
While the meatballs are cooking, make the homemade bbq sauce. To do this, combine ketchup, brown sugar and chopped onion into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

Once the meatballs have browned, pour bbq sauce over the meatballs as evenly as possible.

Lastely, bake uncovered for an additional 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees F until meatballs are heated and the sauce has thickened and is bubbly.

These could even be made into sandwiches for the guys in the field. We like to make individual sandwiches with two meatballs on each bun wrapped in foil. Or another option would be to keep the meatballs warm in a slow cooker and take the buns and make the sandwiches in the field. Either would be approved by the farmers in our house!
