I prefer to use thicker pork chops for this recipe. Thin ones are nice at times, but this recipe makes thick pork chops nice and juicy. It helps to have a meat thermometer to determine if they are done, since cook times vary between ovens and the thickness of the pork chops.

Ingredients for Healthy Baked Pork Chops

  • Thicker cut pork chops
  • Steak Seasoning – I prefer FreshJax Keto Chophouse
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Sea salt and pepper

I have eaten pork chops my entire life and one thing I know for sure is I do NOT like dry pork chops. They are hard for me to eat. So I was determined to find ways to make them juicier and more palatable. Marinating pork chops is the ticket to preventing dry pork chops.

How to cook Healthy Baked Pork Chops

First, make the marinade. I use 1/3 cup of steak seasoning with one tablespoon of olive oil. Rub all over the pork chops. Allow them to marinate in the refrigerator for at least a few hours. (The longer the better, but try to use them within 24 hours).

When you are ready to cook them, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Heat a skillet on high heat with one tablespoon of olive oil. Salt and pepper both sides of the chops.

When the skillet is hot, place the pork chops in the pan and sear each side for around 2 minutes to get a beautiful brownish glaze color. Once done searing, place in an oven safe pan and cook for 10-12 minutes, flip them, then cook for another 10-12 minutes or internal temp reaches 145 degrees.

Once done, remove from oven and let the meat rest for five minutes to maintain juiciness.

Q & A

Can I skip the marinade? I would not skip it as that is what gives it the juicy and delicous flavor.

Can I just use an oven safe skillet for the whole process? You bet! I have done that before, but I didn’t when I was taking the pictures, so I proceeded this way!
